Fashionable Footnotes for Early March, 2008:

Red Carpet Trends from the 2008 Oscars

Beauty...Red Rules
1. Find a shade that works with and not against your skin tone.

2. Make up worn with red needs to compliment your skin tone and hair color. A red lip works only if it's the right red! Some reds have blue undertones, some coral.

3. Strong colors in clothing require a more natural look in makeup and hair. Choose one element as your statement and everything else is a support role!

Clothing
A look that captivates on the Red Carpet has the same elements as an outfit that is a hit or miss in our lives off the Red Carpet:

1. Fit is key: if clothing fits and the right underpinnings support your assets you've got a great head start!

2. Choose colors that work with skin/hair not the "it" color of the season. It may not be your color.

Accessories
1. Clutch evening bags were a hit on the Red Carpet. Small enough for lipsticks and small necessities.

2. Don't forget about how fabulous your feet and hands need to be! Pedis and Manis are a must. Although dark colors still reign, we prefer a clean neutral look particularly if you're outfit is one of the season's strong colors.

3. Strong necklaces were making a statement on the Red Carpet and worn with drop earrings.....new this season. Last season it was one or the other.
