Fashion Week - Day 3

Jayne:
Jen and I ran early this morning to make the Ports 1961 show. A full house of early birds watched as a motif of "Out of Africa" floated down the runway. Models were in beautiful dresses and suits in earth tones of beige, rich garnets, smoky grays and shimmer golds. The collection was utterly feminine which seems to be the overriding theme for spring. Cheers to being a lady!

Then we went to the Vera Wang show which attracted celebs galore. Andre Leon Talley, Anna Wintour, and the rest of the Vogue crew along with Vanessa Carlton. Sara Michelle Geller and Ivanka Trump all swayed to "Here Comes the Sun as the show opened with a salute to ancient Rome. Toga inspired tunics, tops and gowns with intricate beading graced down the runway. No one drapes clothes like Vera Wang. The show was magnificent!

Finally, we watched the Tracy Reese show which of all the shows today, showed the most "saleable" collection. Women around the country will love her graphic black and white dresses, playful shorts and tops and lavender beach wear. The best part of the show was her music from Stevie Wonder which I am still humming!

More later!

Jen:
We all schlepp from show to show to watch models strut designer's visions of their female ideal. At the begining of each show everyone lines up to enter the tents. That's the real fashion show. The editors, the buyers, the fashion"insiders" that help dictate what you'll be wearing. That being said, the looks that were most represented were: patent leather, dresses, "wife beater shirts paired with high wasted black pants. Gladiator sandals/shoes, quilted bags. Did I say dresses? Femininity is back. Women are choosing dresses over pants. Dresses abound on the runway because women are opting for the freedom a dress provides: put it on and all you have to worry about are the shoes. That's a good worry. Women love worrying about shoes(and bags)!
